CHIP RE-FLOW

WHAT IS RE-FLOW?

Laptops run at extreme temperatures, which can cause the solder joining the chips onto the boards to become brittle and crack. This can replace components such as the motherboard. These repairs are often not cost effective, & most people choose to scrap the laptops & start again.

By dismantling the laptop & using a special infra-red rework we can 're-flow' the chips on the motherboard, meaning the heat re-melts the solder will then re-assemble your advice making sure high quality thermal paste, & in some cases a copper shim is used to make sure your system calls efficiently & the issue does not re-occur.

WHAT IF A RE-FLOW FAILS?

If your BGA re-flow fails, which in some cases can happen, you can simply bring the laptop back for us & we will carry out a full BGA Re-ball, minus the cost of your re-flow, which will replace all of the solder balls underneath your chip with fresh solder.

COMMON FAULTS THAT RE-FLOW CAN FIX

GRAPHIC CHIP RE-FLOW .. We find this a common issue with laptops that have advanced graphics cards inside of them. The system appears fine when first turned on, but then artefacts (picture breaks up into a pattern of coloured dots) start appearing on the screen as the laptop heats up or when any graphics heavy applications are run. This can also cause the screen to go blank when moved, freeze when under a heavy load, or simply show nothing at all.
